Craigslist Fiasco

Okay, so today I got a bunch of stuff together that I haven’t been using much, took pics, and posted them under the “barter” section on Craigslist. Some of the stuff I don’t use at all, some I have plans to use, some I use a good bit but just wanted to see what I could get for them.

One item, a single bed quilt with a print from the cartoon movie Cars, I bought from someone else on Craigslist back in September in a bundle with two other quilts at $30. Since then, I have sold one of the three quilts and use the second as my main bedspread. The Cars quilt I use as a backup in case it gets super cold at night (which, in Montreal, it has a tendency to do). I also love to snuggle with this quilt on the couch because my apartment is often too cold not to snuggle with something. Bottom line, I love this quilt, but it doesn’t quite go with my decor, so I thought I’d put it online to see if I got any good offers for it – but it would have to be very good because if I get rid of this quilt I will probably have to buy a new one.

So, this brings us to the problem: I did receive an inquiry about the quilt. It’s below, see what you think:

hi,

i’m a single mom of a 6 year old autistic boy. i was wondering if i could have the quilt for free. my son would love that. please let me know.
OK. So now what? This isn’t exactly what I’d call a “good offer” for me, but can I survive the guilty conscience if I don’t give it to her? I also have to ask, do you think she’s exaggerating in order to get something free? (hate to be suspicious, but some people…) Bottom line: if I give away my quilt without getting anything tangible in return, I’m not sure I’ll really be in a position to buy a new one right now if the need arises. WHAT DO I DO?
Please help by taking the poll below and/or leaving a comment. Any advice appreciated!
